Hmmmm...

Interesting how the only response this has gotten is TOTALLY based on the ease of STEALING the service. Not everyone pirates satellite service. DirecTV is the standard. --The real thing, if you will. Dish network is...ummm....not so special.

it all works with who has the hack.

Koin is private, and is the only one that that has the hack for dishnetwork.
there are a few others but koin is the best.
you can't program dish network cards by yourself
you send it to koin to have it "E3M"d

dss if you dont' have a subscribed h card, you can lose free cable at any time.
sometimes it becomes hard to find a "valid" card so you can "clone" it and
copy it on to your "invalid card"

valid cards recieve preview channels
invalid cards don't recieve preview channels and screen say card expired or call ext 745 error when card is inserted.
clone- copy the image off a valid card an put it on an invalid card.

hope this helps

Supposedly DirectTV compresses their signal more. This results in lower picture quality. I've also heard that this is all bunk and there is no difference in the way they compress their signals.

However, I have DishNetwork at home and I am extremely happy with the picture quality. We just got back from a weeks vacation, and the condo we stayed at had DirectTV. The picture was pretty crappy. Of course there are many things to factor in. The resort may have some hardware problems, or maybe even not the correct hardware for the number of units they were splitting off to.

Anyway, this is my personal experience with the two systems.

You might want to check the newsgroups for some more info.
