Dish Network is ABSOLUTELY THE WORST.

initially i had problems about 2 months ago. 🙁. it took them FIVE weeks to get me service again. 🙁

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=38&threadid=1243685&arctab=arc&highlight_key=y&keyword1=dish

Now, i get notified 3 weeks ago from apartment management that i'm NOT supposed to have a dish on the roof. I call Dish to have them send me someone out to take it down, they charge me $120.00. they say they won't even SCHEDULE someone unless i pay them. so couple days latter a guy comes out. well he says, he can't do it because he's not set up to do a pole mount. fine, he also says the city has to come out and flag the ground because of underground stuff, fine. i get that.

all that is done and i call dish again to reschedule someone to come out. 1 week later, a guy comes out.

first of all, he says he's only scheduled for a TROUBLE call. IT WASN'T a TROUBLE call. next, he's not AUTHORIZED to take down a dish. he says, he and his company can't be liable for taking a dish off the roof. OMFG.

then he starts to give me some info. 1. the installer should NEVER have put a super dish on the roof. 2. the installer should NEVER have put ANYTHING on the roof without a signed letter. 3. I shouldn't be charged to have something removed as it should NEVER have been put up there.

I call dish, there ONLY response is to say, oh we'll credit you, now it's YOUR PROBLEM.

WTF is up with that BS??

GOD I HATE DISHTV.

While I can definitely see your point... Don't you think you bear just a bit of responsibility, since you didn't get the ok from your apartment's management?

Even still... That's some crappy CS. :frown:

Yes because DirectTV would have been right out to remove it.
PlatinumGold this isn't something you can do yourself? What happened to the landlord saying he was going to take it down?

i recently cancelled my dish network service trying to save some money. but for the one year that i had it. i had no trouble or problems with it at all

Actually... They probably would've. I've been a DirecTV subscriber for over five years (and my parents for close to 10), and have always had flawless CS experiences with them.

i did take some responsibility, when i first called dish network, i clearly said, i realize i should have gotten permission etc. that's why i had no problems paying them the $120.00 they required.

since then however, they've given me nothing but the runaround. i don't have to take responsibility for that.

whats worse is when i talked to them today, they said, very quickly in fact, we'll credit you the $120.00. they are completely washing their hands of this entire affair.

so i called the office of the last contractor that came out today, and she said, we don't want to take your money, dish network should send the original contractors out to take it down at no charge to me. she said she would have it done.

again, my problem is not paying someone to do it, my problems is getting it done. 🙁

btw, call me yellow, but i rented a ladder to go up there, (about 40 ft) and take it down myself, i got up about 15 ft and came back down. i guess i don't like heights. 🙁

and i just to be a big time repeller and rock climber too (albeit in high school).

Well, ladders are a whole different ball game. Heights don't bother me a whole lot... But ladders are another story. 😉

Same situation here except with Dish. I've been with them for 5-6 years and I've never had a problem. I've only needed to call them a few times and they've always been great. *shrugs* we all have different experiences.

for most companies still in operation, good experiences outnumber bad ones. that shouldn't have to be stated.

for most companies, they handle most situations without too many problems, those aren't the things that determine good or bad CS. the obvious things are obviously gonna be handled well.

what determines whether a company does good or bad is the occasionaly problems. how they deal with situations that shouldn't have existed, that's what really tells you about a companies CS.

final chapter in my saga with Dish TV. they came today to take the dishes off my roof as management required it. guess what, they THREW all the parts off a 40 foot roof. needless to say, nothing is recoverable. i have a 1 yr contract so that means i have 2 months left on my contract and no equipment to make it work. 🙁

these guys need to learn a bit about CS.
