Those black flakes are flavor crystals.

Only time we had water looking damn scary was during the blackout. Although you didn't notice all the crap in it till you boiled it.
 
Could that be carbon from like a filter?...



Or it could be bits of swamp-thing from the Wabash River, which are multiplying and will attack you when you least suspect it :Q
 
Try running your water for a few minutes?

If you're on a well, the pump could've sucked some sh!t up.

Been running it for 20 minutes now. Still the same result. It is city water and I don't pay for it so I don't mind running it constantly.

 
A few weeks back there was a report about a couple houses having their water hooked up to the wrong supply. The families had been drinking/bathing/cooking with sewer water for months. Makes you think twice doesn't it.
