What about the “Sam Prime“? That would be the Nexus Prime or DROID Prime or whatever the hell you want to call it that is expected to be one of the first Ice Cream Sandwich devices on the planet. According to this document, it will replace the DROID Charge which to be honest, makes a lot of sense. The Charge went by model number SCH-i510 and the Prime has already been outed as SCH-i515. The Charge is also in a similar predicament as the Thunderbolt in that its specs are from 1992 (yeah, exaggeration) and is in dire need of being upgraded.

Lol yes it did. That's the reason why Verizon didn't get the iPhone in the first place. They're very tight with their phones and are known for not letting phones on their network for not allowing their bloat on them.

Being made of metal doesn't necessarily make the phone heavy. The Tbolt isn't made of metal, its one of the heaviest smartphones today. The Charge has a decent feel to it, but the Fascinate/Vibrant/Captivate felt like I could bend them using only two fingers. So, hit or miss.
 
I hope it is plastic. The Fascinate doesn't feel like it is crap quality regardless of what people have been saying. Also, with a big screen, if it was metal it would just be too heavy. Plastics also doesn't scratch up as bad as metal backs.

I don't think that's the reason Verizon rejected the original iphone, more likely it was the risky investment and the exclusivity fees Apple commanded that made Verizon stay away, only to dance their way back to Apple it because it's hot. But, back to topic before Bateluer throws a fit...

Verizon will get the Droid Prime, the only question is how much will it differ from the Nexus counterpart.

Maybe Verizon would pass on the 1st HD phone, or on the 1st ICS phone but not one that has both of those features.

I know that Samsung is criticized a lot about build materials and design but I think they have improved as evident with the SGSII, I don't see why the Prime shouldn't be as good.
 
I just hope the November date is Verizon only as there won't be as many "changes" needed for Sprint especially. I hope Sprint gets it first 🙂 My newly granted upgrade is calling for it.
 
Anyone know if the Nexus Prime will be available to Sprint or is this a Verizon/T-mobile only type device? I'm tempted to upgrade from my Epic 4G to the SGS II Epic Touch or wait for the Nexus Prime but, i'm not sure if Sprint will be getting those devices.

Is ICS really a selling point for anyone but 1% of people, the nerd buyers? Both iPhones and Android phones I see in the hands of some of the lest tech savy looking people at the mall (they could of course just be hiding it well..). I bet most people just barely know their phone isn't an iPhone and that's about it. I think the telcos know who the majority of customers are, and which bullet points sell, and I bet it isn't version numbers..

Explain? New phones are always subsidized if you have an upgrade available. I am guessing this Nexus will prob be $200ish even upgrade eligible but I don't see it being full price... I've never seen a phone full price on a post paid carrier.

It isn't confirmed yet. My plan is as follows... wait until October 1st till maybe the 15th for more news about this phone. It should come to Sprint also, but not positive. If no news by mid october I buy the Epic Touch. This will give me 30 days where if Sprint does get the phone in Novemember I still have the 30 day guarantee where I can swap out to the Nexus if it comes out.

Google's Nexus devices have always started unsubsidized. The Nexus S when released was unsubsidized, but by the time it came to Sprint, it could be bought subsidized.

Uh . . .the Fascinate felt like the cheapest of the Galaxy S line. I can bend the casing by putting it under my index and pinky fingers and over the middle two. If the Prime follows this route, its a step backwards and I'm looking for something else to replace my T-bolt.

Fortunately, I don't think Samsung would step backwards like that. The Charge has a semi-decent polycarbonate case, and, while light, feels sturdy. Same with the SGS2, I think, though I haven't handled one of those personally.

You're obviously just talking about the back cover, which can only be bent when NOT on the phone. Which, to me, is a moot point. Try bending it when it is on the phone, where it stays.

The whole phone. Verizon rep politely told me to cut it out when I was doing it in the store. 😛

Samsung has, hopefully, moved on from such cheap designs. I doubt their Prime will be a metal body because they've never had a metal unibody phone, but if its that ultra cheap plastic, its a no go. I need a phone that can handle me bending over if its in my pocket. 😛

I'm in the exact same boat as you, and that plan sounds good to me :thumbsup:

Will they let you swap it out during 30 days without a restocking fee?
 
Just wanted to let the guys, who were counting on 30day return policy, know..

Starting 9/16/2011, Sprint is reducing the return period to 14 days.
