Discuss: The Ring (2002)

Obviously there will be spoilers - don't say you weren't warned.

A few oddities... unexplainables... let's talk about it here...

1) Why was Rachel (the mom) just staring at Noah's gf as she was waiting for the elevator on her way up back to the apartment? She was about to see Noah dead on the chair, but why was Rachel just staring at her, and then the tissue with the blood on it? It seemed to have meant something.

2) WTF was up with Richard Morgan doing electrocuting himself at that point in the movie ? That whole scene seemed surreal. Was his mind under the girl's control ?

3) Why did it matter that Noah and Rachel "freed" the girl from the well? Aiden (the boy) said they weren't supposed to... but the deaths were occuring before and after she was freed... why did this matter?

4) So the whole point of the movie was that the little girl wanted her story to be "spread"... those who made copies of the tape live and those who don't, die?

5) Where did the tape come from ?

I think some of those questions are to be answered in the sequal and prequal.

Another question:

Why didn't the director have the address bar hidden when Rachel was surfing for information?

Projection of the girl's thoughts to a VCR that was recording, I believe.

plot device for twist. either way doesn't matter if she's free or not, freeing her isn't helping u save ur life

i suppose the girl somehow made it the same way she exposed those films.

1: I think that Noah's GF was wearing a white dress under that black coat of hers, yes? Did anyone with a sharp eye catch this? Perhaps that fact alone woulda freaked Rachel out. I don't know what the blood meant.

2: Richard Morgan just wanted to kill himself and not have to deal with that damn b1tch from hell no more.

3: Well, Noah and Rachel "freed" the girl from the well so now the girl can continue on killing. If they haven't done that, then the girl woulda eventually come and killed them, thus ending the cycle. THe cycle is the one where you have to show the tape to someone else in order to save yourself.

4: Yes, she just wanted to spread her story and also hurt people. Remember in the video of her at the mental hospital? She wants to hurt people.

5: The tape came from her mental projections since the well was under the cabin that was recording the football game.

Bingo. You got it. I know this because I read the summary for Ring 2. Samara took over Noah's GF body.

It kept me awake till 2AM last night and I didn't want to turn my TV off (I sleep right in front of it). I kept thinking it was going to turn right back on by itself afterward.

BTW... where can I find the summary for Ring 2?
