Discuss - Cool websites... is that an oxymoron?

Someone said that, it was maybe 20 years ago (that "cool websites" is an oxymoron) but it was one of those things you hear that stick in your mind. So, is it true, the internet just isn't cool? At least in terms of there being sites that are in and of themselves "cool?"

OK, the internet is ubiquitous and not going away. Uh, that doesn't mean it's cool.

I like Anandtech Forums, but that doesn't mean they're cool.

So, if it's not true, then name some cool websites. I know, maybe sounds ridiculous. You use the internet, you hit a site, make what you will of it and move on. Life is like that, a lot, hit it and quit it.

OK, what say you.

C'mon... A youtube video listing the best websites?! The only way you could make that presentation worse is by mailing in a SASE, and waiting til you got a printed list of the best websites :^S

DISCLAIMER - I have not watched either of those two videos... yet. So they may totally suck.

So, anyway, is cool website an oxymoron?

My problem is the video format. Let's say you want to go to one of these cool websites. You have to pause the video when they hopefully display the url, then manually type it in to get to said cool website. Video is definitely *not* the way to go for this kind of presentation.

If they were worth their salt, they'd put links in the video description.

These wind websites are pretty cool.

I don't really use them for anything, but they are just neat.

Quite true. Of course, you usually don't have to type in a whole URL if:

Autocomplete

Google a substring, it comes up, you hit it.

cool websites?

seems to me that this was a common topic back in the pre-netscape days.

Hey, have you ever heard of this website called ytmnd?

Classics. I'm making a SE inspired onion soup today.

BTW, one of the great culinary gifts from India is ghee. One use for it I have is to substitute that for butter or oil for onion soup.

The reason is that there are various chemical reactions that happen at a higher smoke point than butter gives. With attention I can get all the applicable food related Grignard reactions for a more complex flavor without burnt flavor.
