I suck at it and I absolutely abhor it.

Please tell me this stuff is not useful beyond academia ! :(:|

Edit: Wrong emoticon.

I remember it well, worst class ever. I slept through most of it (as I just couldnt comprehend it) and was happy with a D.

It is useful. And I thought it was fun.

Im guessing your a math major or something similar?

Most CS majors who take it, actually like it (since its applicable)

Unfortunately it's useful. Not as useful as Linear Algebra (which I never had the opportunity to take due to scheduling). I sucked hard in Discrete 1, but did well in 2.

I'm a CS major and I just can't make myself to like it.. but then I don't like any forms of math either

Let me put it this way.. what kinda job would require you to use DM? I'm guessing programmers who need to optimize algorithms?

Not just optimizing Algorithms but doing actually CS (not IT),name any currently active field of research in CS and I can almost gurantee the foundations for studying are found in Discrete....Hail DM and Hail the BIG O..................I am biased I am Math major...with cs concentration

Yeah discrete was kinda fun. Annoying when you had no clue to fill in the spots between start and end points, but get started in one direction and you are usually good to go. Kinda like a good puzzle.

Then perhaps Computer Science is not for you. :)

I'm trying to remember all the stuff we went over in my Discrete Math class (it's been 16 years).

Boolean Logic (*VERY USEFUL*)
Set Theory
Combinations / Permutations
Mathmatical Induction (I remember it being a pain my freshman year)
Some elementary graph theory (very useful later)
...probably lots more that I can't remember.

What stuff are you going over that you hate so much?

Not really. I've been programming for a year and a half and never used anything from Discrete I or II.

I'm not too fond of the course... We've been doing geometric proofs, circle theory, vectors, linear algebra... And I hate proofs.

Alot of C#, ASP, ASP.NET, SQL, HTML, JS, Java, XML, XSLT,.... The place I've been at recently, I work on interpreting and using radar messages.
