Has that been done? Link?

sort of

It's a competition car though, best run 9.97@134, NA

:Q

I need specs, quick!

"Car weighs around 1700lbs with driver and is fully built. Will be running in the same class against the Skunk2 RSX."

Engine specs aren't published though, it's sort of secret since it's competition. I've heard of built, reworked RSX-S motors making 300 crank HP so figure something on that scale.

Sweet idea though, those big ass tires and wheels on the front are awesome. If someone releases a mounting kit for the insight, it'd be real tempting for me to pick up a project.

Nah, it just looks like a luxury car...ignoring the vents of course...

your creativity blows goats....he asks for discreet and since subarus have been mentioned you jump to an m3?;)

My jump from a Subaru to an M3 had more to do with the OP asking for a compact rather than discreet...

Ah, well...you could have focused more on the car being a sports car instead of compact b/c the two usually go hand in hand.

edit: I guess they don't really, an m5 isn't too compact.

Uh oh...best to stick to "sport compact" or use "sporty" or "GT" or something. When the words "sports" and "car" are used in succession like that, they have a very specific definition ;)

Do that with an STI and it would look even quieter.

you'd have to replace the hood on the sti, the scoop is a giveaway...the lancer would be a good stealthy car... but so far the GTO and the audi S4 wagon seem like the best sleepers...

Sentra V Spec? Maybe...Focus SVT? Nothing too fast, but they're quick for what they look like

My old Shelby was pretty discreet too, people just thought it was a normal Shadow most of the time, the rest of the time I got asked if it was a Mustang *shrug*

And it's air vents on the front hood man, really conspicious.

Compact usually means inexpensive. M3 costs over $50k.

I'd go with the WRX sedan or wagon. If you want M3 performance for half the cost go with the WRX-STi and swap trunks with a WRX owner.

What about the AMG Benzes? An E55 AMG would look just like a slow E320 Sedan, but it would do 0-100mph in 9 seconds!

I don't think that he would be asking about "sport compacts" if he had $120k to drop. Do you?

Sport compact's are marketed to younger buyers. Which usually means that they aren't rich, unless their parents are buying it for them of course.

Any way, I agree with a lot of the posts made. Civics are good, the 99-00 Si is a good way to start off. WRX wagon is also a very good sleeper. As are VW GTi Golf's, and Jetta's that you can put more boost into.

ok how about this...Infiniti G20 sedan and drop in the fabled SR20DET motor from japan....Actually this is how the G20 (primera) comes stock in japan. The SR20DET FWD motor is called a blubird motor....i think that would be a sweet sleeper!

No way, not to your average person. The average joe wouldn't notice the big rims and dual exhausts immediately as being an M3

if i was a cop and saw a BMW, you better believe I'd be hitting it with radar, regardless of the model.

Price of the 55 should be around $75k. Second, if I saw a Civic with fart cannon exhaust I would pull them over. Douchebag green turn signals and such would prove to be a gold mine in tickets.

Mini-van Mopar with a Turbo...

http://www.turbominivan.com/main.htm
http://www.xmission.com/~dempsey/minivan2/

http://www.turbominivan.com/videos.htm

clif_roc.mpg (1.34 meg) Dempsey Bowling and Clifford (circa 2001) shame a TPI IROC-Z Camaro by a full second.
clif1329.wmv (7.3 meg) Now owned by Corby and making much more power, Clifford makes a low 13-second pass.
clif1256.wmv (2.1 meg) Clifford heads south for the winter... and sets a new world record turbo minivan ET at 12.56 seconds!
clif1276.wmv (4.35 meg) Another 12-second pass for Clifford, this time against an old Road Runner. Listen to the announcer laugh about it!

russbird.mpg (3.5 meg) Russ Jerome and his stock-turbo snow-tired Voyager take on an '87 305 TPI Firebird on drag slicks. The announcer really rubs it in, too. (Listen closely: at the 60-ft mark, Russ flips his two-stage boost control to HI and the tires break loose.)

There are aftermarket exhausts that are primarily functional, and don't look/sound like the majority of fartcan exhausts seen on ricers... I agree with the posts re: civic and debadged subarus. These are not quite in the class of "sport compacts", but previous gen c-class benzes can be found for not toooo expensive, and they have a lot of kick. Since they're so often driven by cautious drivers, they aren't always expected to go fast, but if allowed to open up, they're quick.
