Whats up guys.

Ive got a HP dv1340 notebook, which has the 915GM chipset. This chipeset supports discreet graphics w/ PCIe.

Right now it uses the 900GM IGP but I am wondering if I can slip in a card for some more performance.

1. Are these discreet cards made to fit in certain laptops? Or is it one size fits all?
2. (If you know anything on the subject) which would you suggest?

Thanks.

1.) Very few laptops allow for graphics upgrades... VERY VERY FEW
2.) If they do its usually within the same graphics generation and thermal output, for instance a R9700 mobility to R9800 mobility etc....

Odds are you cant upgrade your graphics, and even if you can your going to have to fight with HP. I know with dells on the few models that can be upgraded, you cant just ask for an upgrade card, you have to order a "replacement" part # and then strip down the laptop and install it.

Well i'm quite sure I have the 915GM chipset which is noted by intel as having discreet graphics capability and a PCIe slot.

But it dosnt look like there is anything offered for this laptop at the moment. :(
Maybe in the future something will show. They did just release the dv1000t line which is identical except for the having new duo CPUs. I would image if a discreet GPU is made to fit in there, it will fit in mine just the same.
