You'll find that discovery HD and HDnet have some of the most visually stunning content out there.

My dad has DiscHD through Comcast. It's beautiful. Every time I go over to his place I feel like I'm equally amazed every time I see it. REALLY want to see the Planet Earth series in HD. In fact I've purposefully kept myself from watching it in non-HD just because I keep hearing how amazing it is (and seen their commercials/promos for the HDDVD/BD).

Yeah, they just had Discovey HD Theater. That looked good too but the MPEG4 looks better so far.

This is part of the 25 HD channels that DirecTV just turned on this morning.

Discovery HD Theater has been out for about 4 years, got it July 2003 from Comcast.
Discovery HD which is not available from Comcast, recently just came out in DirectTV. 2 different HD programs between these channels.

Yep. That's been one of my main channels to watch in HD since I got HD cable and the TV a bit over 3 years ago.

I thought Direct had Discovery HD for awhile now?

Got an email from TWC, we're getting 3 new HD channels next week. :)
A&E is one of them.

Quality is good, but not any better than let's say Channel 13 HD.
I have Time Warner btw.

You're smoking crack.
Not if he's talking about OTA vs. Cable. Cable looks the best of all the TV providers, no doubt, but OTA is the absolute best you can get, other than a 1080P HD DVD or Blu Ray.

They've had Discovery HD Theater. Different programming from the Discovery Channel.

I don't think there's a regular Discovery HD channel, is there?

I just checked my cable, and that's what I have, too. HD Theater

So if TWC and Direct both didn't have it, then basically nobody did, or it didn't exist?

Yeah, OTA, esp. CSI Miami is on par with the best of cable quality. They're both 1080i so really not any difference I can tell.
Oh, I just got a Samsung BD1200 Blu-Ray 2 weeks ago.:D
Looks absolutely stunning paired with my Sony 34" Super fine pitch CRT, even tho the display is "only" 1080i.
Hope to get a 50" 1080p Sammy LCD with 120 hz one day.

meh, depends on the crew and cameras.

Discovery does a great job in this area.

Your right though, national feeds, done with live video, done correctly, OTA = best.

Unless it's NBC...they seem to suck no matter what. ;)

Discovery HD didn't exist before today.
