So I go there yesterday because I had a leaking rear tire (nail), I bought the tires there 3 years ago and did not buy the extra warranty, they fixed the leak AND rebalanced all 4, how much do I owe I asked, "nothing" was his reply, wow, that's awesome customer service IMO, I won't even think of buying from anyone else even if the price or deal is better..

They did the same thing for me, as well as my dad on a previous occasion.

I know where I buy my tires.

They do free tire rotations and inspections even if you've never been a customer before. I'm a big fan of the company.

Only one small downside is they have a tendency to get packed pretty quick, I've tried the online appt. setter but it didn't help much as they were already working on so many cars when I got there. Now I just go early and of course bring my tablet along (works great for Dr, appts too LOL)..

I took my car in with 2 leaky tires last Tuesday. Discount Tire fixed them both in about an hour for free. I was impressed. The guy said they now repair tires you buy there for free. I was half expecting them to refuse to repair the one puncture because it was so close to the sidewall.

Don't abuse it folks, I don't want my freebies yanked.

I've never been asked if I was a previous customer for flat repair - showed up once with my truck and a wheel / tire in the bed and they repaired it in minutes, no questions.

I had them replace a TPMS sensor on the CTS-V and the guy hand checked my lugs with a torque wrench (I didn't even ask). I won't go anywhere else now.

Shit. Having worked for a Firestone a little while, these experiences are fairly incredible. I mean, we'd do stuff for repeat customers sometimes, but that was generally outside the corporate bounds...just being a human being. On a higher level, I'm sure they'd say 'fuck customer satisfaction, charge that asshole something.' You didn't get a flat repair done unless you paid the $20 or whatever. That was dismount/patch/remount/balance, though. You guys just talking about plugs?

Are Discount Tire locations independently owned franchises, or are they all part of a corporation?

I think they are all corp and use plugs. Think of them as the Brick/retail version of tirerack.

That's pretty cool. I've always heard random good stuff about DT, but I just kind of assumed they were franchise shops...and with hundreds (thousands?) of different owners, you're gonna get widely varying experiences.

But they seem to get fairly consistent praise, as opposed to also-corporate Firestone, who generally seems to get consistent criticism.

I don't even have a dealer group in my area that's not a bunch of fuckin' thieves. So it surprises me when a tire shop gets high praise for it's value/service/ect. Maybe I'll just go mount tires for a living.:(

Yes, they're awesome. A few months ago I replaced all four tires on my wife's car and turned down the insurance. Well, about 2 weeks after I got them, she ran over a nail and the tire ran so low it destroyed the entire tire. I took it back to DT, and was ready to pay for a replacement tire (about $350). When I went up to the counter, since I bought the tires so recently, the guy offered to sell me the insurance for all 4 tires after the fact and cover my damaged tire, which was less than the cost of a single tire. I thought that was pretty awesome.

Definitely a big fan of DT. Highly recommended.

I guess the dismount method would yield a foolproof repair vs the "plug" method but then again I've had several tires repaired with plugs and have never had any problems afterward..

I've only had good experiences there. I had a repair done there a few weeks ago, same story- no charge.

I'm a big fan of Discount Tire. Only reason I didn't use them recently was that they didn't have the tires I wanted (Dunlop Direzza Ziis)

Always call them to check. When I got my PSSs a few months ago, my size wasn't on the website, but I called, and they had no problem getting them.

Yep. They had to order the PSS for me too. They normally don't keep those in stock.

Around here Belle Tire or Discount Tire will do that for sure. I'm sure the other stores do the same type of thing as well.

They dismount and patch. It isn't just a plug repair
