Thought this was interesting. An average animator (for anime in Japan) in their 20's only takes home about 11k a year working crazy amounts of hours.

what do you expect with the sheer amount of anime they produce, including terrible anime

So it's the equivalent of working in fast food?

If it pays so bad, find another job.

Wow, I think I'd work in fast food instead. At least you get free food and normal hours...and sadly, you'd probably be more likely to get laid there as well.

I would imagine that most of these low paying jobs are the filler artists, don't know the technical term. The chief animators only draw the principle frames, outlying the general action. These get sent off to the low level animators who draw in the frames between these. That is just a monkey job where they need to copy the exact art without any real creativity. I think I have heard of a lot of US studios doing this. They will draw the principle frames and outsource the rest to Korea.

"A shrinking population of children in Japan has discouraged toy makers, television networks and other traditional sponsors from funding new programs."

Back to this issue again :p

Weird. I read the title as "discontinent in japan's anime studios" and wondered what constipation has to do with cartoons

The Japanese hentai cartoons have gotten so good that males don't want to bang regular Japanese chicks anymore, so the main audience for anime has been dropping, causing the studios to pay less money.

I must have seen about a hundred emo asians drawing decent-looking anime during class over the coarse of my elementary-high school education. Not really surprised at this.

Yup, except it was pretty much just the nerdier kids of all races. I always sat there wondering why they dont use their time to practice another style since everyone and their mother could draw decent anime.

An old friend from highschool used to draw anime but can also do shit like this
