That the elite bankers knew it would go bust is exactly the point and why they should pay first.
Both with jail time and recompense.
They are trying to walk away with all the money they have fleeced the public for and hand us another bill of goods.
This month alone , I've lost almost %6 in my retirement account. I'll take that loss no problem as long as those who got rich off fraudulent deals lose the same , plus return the money the "stole" from us.

By the way , bonds are taking a beating.
I migrated the majority of my account to bonds and "conservative" investments 3 months ago.
It didn't help much.

I would agree to this whole heartedly if they were made to pay it back over the course of say the next 3-5 years with interest. It worked in Sweden in the 90s, it can work here too. Unfortunately, in Sweden they get proper representation whereas we don't.

They do need to fix all the money that is given away. Presidents, Senators, cabinet members, and receive their salaries for life after serving. That means per President we are talking about a $1 billion dollars assuming people only live 20 years afterward and more realistically it is $2 billion plus. I believe that companies should be able to pay what ever they want, but there should be a way (taxes or something) to encourage companies to pay their executives some multiple of the average employee salary. If the average employee salary is 50,000 give 0.5% tax break for those companies where all the executives make less than 250,000.

The only situation where I can see you taking money for nothing is winning the lotto.

Darn that whole Due Process of Law thing; can we suspend the Fifth Amendment just for a little while, when it's convenient for our revenge fantasies?
