a friend and i were talking and thought it would be cool to have a small disco ball spinning and a pin light on it in a windowed case... think it would be possible?

As for the ball, u could probably pick one up from a shop at mall or something.

It should be a small motor rotating it, while a little bulb inside provides the light. you can hang it off your chassis, depending on ur case. if you line the case with some mirrors, it'd increase brilliance. ;) maybe you can run off the motor with AA battery, or maybe into a fanheader/moldex.

sounds like a hella cool project, i would love to see this done. and how small do they make disco balls? i imagine you'd need a pretty small one to fit in your case.

i found 4 inch disco balls... but no small motors... think a 4 inch ball would work? wonder if a laser pointer would work for a pin light? i did find out the motor shoudl turn 3rpm. any ideas?

you could just point a fan at the disco ball. It should make it move enough to get the disco effect.
