Weapons of any kind are prohibeted on campus. No student may possess or discharge any type of firearm, airsoft/paintball guns, fireworks, bows and arrows, ammunition, air tanks, explosives or any device that can propel an object any distance
I was found in violation of that last rule by playing with a modified NERF Maverick in the resident halls. Yes, a NERF gun. And I wasn't really playing with it, I had just modified it and was doing launch tests to see the improvement in the firing distance.
This is a violation of the Explosives and Weapons policy, because anything that can create a projectile is NOT ALLOWED IN THE HALLS. I explained that the NERF gun was no different than speakers in that sense: both project air and if I put a NERF dart on the speaker and pointed the cone up, the dart would bounce around too. But because they want a completely safe campus here, they decide that since they offer such a vague term in the license agreement that they can then decide the severity.
They ultimately decided that a NERF gun is equivalent to an airsoft gun.
My punishment is I have to make an informative flyer that is to be distributed among the hall explaining the dangers of NERF guns and the policy.
So I obeyed. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, my flyer:
