Disciplinary Probation

Weapons of any kind are prohibeted on campus. No student may possess or discharge any type of firearm, airsoft/paintball guns, fireworks, bows and arrows, ammunition, air tanks, explosives or any device that can propel an object any distance

I was found in violation of that last rule by playing with a modified NERF Maverick in the resident halls. Yes, a NERF gun. And I wasn't really playing with it, I had just modified it and was doing launch tests to see the improvement in the firing distance.

This is a violation of the Explosives and Weapons policy, because anything that can create a projectile is NOT ALLOWED IN THE HALLS. I explained that the NERF gun was no different than speakers in that sense: both project air and if I put a NERF dart on the speaker and pointed the cone up, the dart would bounce around too. But because they want a completely safe campus here, they decide that since they offer such a vague term in the license agreement that they can then decide the severity.

They ultimately decided that a NERF gun is equivalent to an airsoft gun.

My punishment is I have to make an informative flyer that is to be distributed among the hall explaining the dangers of NERF guns and the policy.

So I obeyed. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, my flyer:

Can you appeal to a student run judiciary council?

I'd hope that someone there has the common sense to overturn it.

ROFL.... ROFL!!!!

Your "misconduct" is so obsurd you should actually take this to your school's judicial affairs. Next they'll deem paper-footballs unsafe and a ban on rubber-bands. FFS take on the institution and prove how stupid they are.

in middle, we used to make bow and arrows out of bic pens...

i once had a STRONG as mofo release on me, and hit the white board right next to a chick who was doing a problem on it, i was SOOO red... it left a frickin dent in the white board.

Aren't they going to make you redo it?

Is semen "an object"? Cause I see a potential problem here.

Isnt that what you play with when you're 8?

go get a big ass nerf gun with the big ass arrow... and put some thumbtacks through the end... shoot it at someone, and see if it hurts.

I would have put a big picture of a penis on it, then asked which was worse, the nerf gun or the flyer.

LOL, nice poster. That's pretty retarded. We play with nerf guns all the time. We can even have paintball guns in the dorms as long as they're not loaded. A guy on our floor had a rifle and shotgun in his room a couple days while transporting them during hunting season... no officials found out, but if they did they wouldn't have done much too him.

Of course you live in hippieland (CA), so you can't be surprised.

HAHA nice! That is such an insanely broad rule. Jeez, start an initiative to get rid of any fans, god forbid if a piece of paper gets projected....

hah, that punishment rules... In fact, that's more like a reward, that is if they let you put that flyer around everywhere without any alterations.

That would be funny to break a bunch of little insignificant rules to make some funny flyers to put up 🙂
