I have 5 GB drive space allocated for windows XP boot up drive (c🙂. the windows folder is 1.24 GB. program folder is 1 GB. documents and setting is 277 MB and Matlab folder is 224 MB. All other folders on this partition iare of minimal size (in the range of kb). But strangely it shows only 229 MB free space. What happenned to all the other space? should be atleast another 2 GB free space on this drive. Can anyone suggest anything that will help me retrive this space?

and when i select all the folders on this drive (nothing is hidden) it shows total space taken is 2.85 GB. Given the total drive size is 5 GB I can't understand why I have only 229 MB free. Please don't tell me it's just windows. It's true for other drives also. It shows about 2 GB of missing space in all the other partitions

check to see how much system restore is using. What about the Windows' Temp folder, Temperary Internet Files ?

All the temp folders are either in documents and settings or windows folder. So they are all taken into account. How do I check system restore?
