Disc Cleanup stalls!

Hi,

Okay. My PC is somewhat outdated, with a rather small HDD. So I run Disc Cleanup nearly every day. Problem is, recently, it's been stopping partway. Not crashing, or freezing really, just not progressing. The HDD lights aren't flashing, nothing's happening.
It stalls when it's a few % into the calculation, during the "Compress old files" part. I've let it go for hours, and it never moves past here.
Additionally, when I close it at this point, it still runs in the background. I have to ctrl-alt-del to close cleanmgr.exe.

What's causing this? Aside from some recently fixed video card problems, I haven't really done anything that might lead to this. I really need to free up that space. Help!

Thanks.

How much free space do you have on your HD? You might be running too low and the program need space to function/manupilate.
