Disappointed with Promedia 5.1 Ultra

I upgraded my Harman kardon Soundsticks ($160) to the Promedia 5.1 Ultra and I'm sad to say I'm not impressed with them. I got myself an X-Fi ExtremeMusic soundcard as well. My old HK speakers sounds way crispier and precise, with a good stereo image. These Promedia speakers have decent bass, but the sound quality that comes from the satellite/center speakers is not even close to the HK. They sound... cheap, for lack of a better word. I've set up the speakers right, except the rears which are sitting on the counter table behind--I'm still waiting for the rear speaker stands, which will enhance the surround sound, but still probably won't change my opinion on the sound quality.

I am not here to flame... but it made me wonder why these speakers are touted as one of the best PC surround sound systems. Maybe I'm not doing something right. But I double checked the polarities on the connections and everything. Channel test works.

Also, If there are any games/apps that are great for testing surround sound, please suggest.

Thanks.
