I'm plagued with a problem that's driving me nuts. After about an hour of inactivity, my PC "loses" its Internet connection. I have to reboot to restore it. Here's the details:
XP3200+, NForce2 (current BIOS and chipset drivers)
WinXP Pro, SP1 and beta SP2 (tried that to see if it fixed anything, it didn't)
Cable Internet
SMC Barricade wired router
ZoneAlarm (latest free version, but it also happened w/out ZA installed)
I doubt it's the router. My other two PC's on the network never drop their connection. They'll sit for hours at idle and pick up right away when the PC wakes back up. The PC that's having problems can sustain a connection, such as a Usenet download, for hours w/out dropping. During that time the problem will occur and while the active connection will be fine, I can't start any new ones (this includes SMTP through any client, HTTP, FTP, NNTP, and IRC). Like I said, I have to reboot for the connection to restore. Ideas?
