So I've got my new rig put together, get windows installed fine, no problems at all. Then when I went to install a backed up (copied) version of Doom 3 everything started to work fine until the progress bar came up on the screen. Then I got the message "Please insert Disk 1". It was already in the drive, so I just hit OK. Nothing happened. Waited, waited, waited, still nothing happened. I tried to eject the disc, and the drive won't open. Then I went to control panel and looked at my device drivers under the hardware tab and the drive had disappeared altogether. It was gone completely like it never existed. So I restarted the PC and the power worked fine again. Inserted a regular (non-copied) disc and it ran fine. Tried to install another back up and the same thing happened.

Why doesn't my drive like copied cds/dvds?

Sorry for all the reading, but I wanted the whole situation to be known to get this resolved.

Looks like you may have a power cable with a loose connection - schesk this and the IDE cables as well.

Do you have more than one optical drive?

If so, make sure that one is set on MASTER and then other on SLAVE on the back of the drive. Just in case you didn't know that.
