Disapearring icon in taskbar.

On my laptop when I use dial-up to connect to the internet my connection icon (the two little lights that illuminate when transferring data) sometimes disappear. I am still connected to the internet though because I can pull up web pages, etc. I have IE6 on here that I just installed about a week ago. Can't think of anything else that could be the prob. Any ideas?

i have ideas but nothing more unfortunately. i think it's possibly ie6, did it work fine before you put it on? i've found that sometimes with little things like this, it works if you go and disable the tray icon and then enable it again. something about registry corruption. i know, that sounds like a lame solution, but it works for some other programs' small problems.

It may depend on your isp, but try going to start/settings/network and dialup connections and check properties on your connection. Check the box show icon when connected if its unchecked. Hope this helps
edit: Ive had lots of probs with ie6 betas so who knows.
