Disadvantages of VGA->DVI Converter?

Are there any disadvantages of using one of these? I got one that came with my Asus GeForce 2 /2vid (2 output) that I intend to use with a Visiontek GeForce 2 Ti200 and a KDS RAD5 (If you have better recomendations about a 15" LCD for under $350 please enlighten me). Will the signal quality decrease? Should I expect compatibility problems?

I use a converter w/ an AIW Radeon @ the office and notice no degredation. The Rad5 is a kickass little 15" LCD!
