Disabling XP SP2 Automatic updates

Hey,

I am running some testing on SP2 for work and can't seem to disable automatic updates in the normal way (Ctrl Panel / Automatic Updates) or through the new Securiy Control Panel.

Any ideas?

Turn off the Automatic Updates service?

Check in the Security center...don't have SP2 anymore, but it's in there. I think on the left-pane.

In the Security Center, you might have to scroll down to the part that
says "Manage security settings for:"

And Automatic Updates is listed there. Clicking on that should lauch the settings dialog, where
the setting to turn off automatic updates can be found (Just checked on an SP2 machine here).

I don't have SP 2 yet, but how did you remove it (or did you reinstall?). I am just curious as it is downloading now although I can still choose not to install.

Are the options grayed out? That means the settings are being configured through Group Policy and you should speak with the admins.
