This was posted back in 2003:

Is it possible to disable the preview for video files in W2k? I'm referring when you select a video file in a folder, and Windows shows you a preview within the folder. I'ts really annoying, specially when selecting large (300+MB) files. And even more annoying when selecting video files in a remote machine!!

Thanks.

Does anyone know how to disable the video previews without switching the view to classic mode?

Thanks HN, but I tried that already and for me the image preview and the side bar are not retained, it switches to what looks like classic mode.

Does anyone else know how I can disable the video previews?

Thanks.

open regedit. search the registry for "Video Media Properties Handler"
delete the sub key "InProcServer32"

do the same thing for:

Video Thumbnail Extractor

AVI Properties Handler
