Was wondering if it was possible to disable toe beginning video when BF2 first starts up.

Also, I received a zip file that made it so the skyline would cut down on my ram usage... I lst the site, but have the files to do it.

Simply delete the movie files down somewhere in the BF2 directory.
I actually made a sub folder called MovieBackup and moved them in there, JUST IN CASE.

Just go to X:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Movies and rename all the movie files except menu.bik, menu_loggedin.bik, and welcome.bik to something like *.bak. That will keep those files from playing.

You sure about that?
THe files the zip file I downloaded are called menu and menu_loggedin.
Hmmm...

And anyone know about the second one?

What zip file are you talking about? You don't download the movies

I had downloaded a zip files on some BF2 site that talked about disabling the background skyline and just putting images in, and I think I got it from there.
I really don't remember, but can't find that site anymore. :(

Yeah, that's the way I have mine now. I renamed every file in that directory to .bak except for menu.bik, menu_loggedin.bik, and welcome.bik. The game goes straight to the login screen now whenever I start it up.

You can rename or remove all of the .bik files in the \mods\bf2\Movies directory with no adverse effect.

I have always found it EZ to simply archive (zip, rar, 7z, whatever) such movie files and then delete 'em. It may optionally be possbile to add a command to the shortcut "+restart 1", to likewise skip 'em. The menu bik's are not necessary but could of course be considered part of the game experience as opposed to the annoying splashes.

Files which modify the in-game content (skyline mods?) will fail content checks.

edit your shortcut....

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +restart 1

add +restart 1 to the shortcut target

Delete all but the menu_ files to remove intro videos. If you don't want the background video playing (it may slow things down), delete the menu files too. Well to be safe you can rename all of them. But yes after renaming everything in that directory (I put a 2 after every filename) then extract the two menu files that you downloaded so you have a static image instead of the ugly grey background.
