Disabling SSID broadcast?

Okay, so all the security gurus out there recommend disabling SSID broadcast on wireless networks, so that any shmoe out there can't go wardiving with the greatest of ease.

The only problem is that when I disable SSID broadcast on my wireless router/access point (Dlink DI-624), my wireless PCs can no longer locate the AP either! And how can they log on when they can't find it?

So what am I missing? Is there some trick to this?

You'll have to enter it manually into the wireless network settings. Hope this helps.

Well, it sort of helps. I'm not sure how to do that... Guess I'll have to monkey around with it and see what happens.

Thanks.

You'll have to go to the properties of the wireless adapter. You'll probably see the icon in your system tray with the red "X" over it. Double-click that, and then you'll see a place where you can add a wireless network. Add the SSID that you set for the router into that area and you should be good to go.
