Can it be disabled via BIOS so I don't have to sit through detection all the time??(SCSI HDD, CDROM, JAZ, and CD-RW) I didn't see it but maybe I am missing something.

I also want to do this, since I have a cdrw as a master on one of the promise ide channels, and it wont show in the bios. HELP!!

If you are using the promise channel for anything, then you don't want to disable it..Your cd/rw will not show up in the BIOS, you will only see it when promise channel is detecting drives during POST.

Yes, it is in the BIOS. Look for "load ATA100 at startup" (don't quote me on that exact wording, but I am close) and set to "disable"..

You also need to move the jumper on the far right in the middle of the board to the lower 2 spots. Top 2 are for RAID. I've noticed the IDE channels will only work if you have one device hooked up to it.
