Hi guys

Just about to switch to a dedicated sound card rather than continuing with the on board sound. I see there is an option in the bios to do this...is this all I need to do prior to installing the new card?

if the option is in the bios then that is all you need to do to enable/disable the onboard sound.

or you can leave it on without much harm. here's what to do in windows:

control panel-> sound and multimedia -> audio -> choose what to playback sound

this is a good way to also plug in a headset for the on-board sound if your room needs to be quiet, and your speakers don't have headphone jack, and you're too lazy to reach behind the case
