Hi,

Not a problem on my newer machines, but can hog the 48 MB of memory in my IBM Laptop with Windows 98 SE Lite (98lite.net) I am looking for a way to stop MSN Messenger from putting itself back into the startup/taskbar after running the actual program and Outlook Express....how do I stop it from reinstalling itself back into my startup? I use MSN a lot but slows my system down when in the taskbar!

here is a Link to disable it in the registry. There are two different settings, one to disable the auto run and the other to stop it from running at all.

another option is to use Trillian it will allow you to do all the things you do in MSN plus if you have Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, and AIM. It will put them into one easy to manage program. you will still have the access to most or all of the features from all of them. with out the rescource drain. Plus it is skinnable!!! ;) you can disable the windows startup easily.

A very simple way to get rid of messenger is to change the folder name. Change it from 'messenger' to 'messen' or something like that. Never deal with it again!
