Disabling Macromedia Flash plugin repeated request

How to stop the annoying Flash plugin in IE, I even installed Flash ver 5 but STILL get this "need to download Flash" message.

Dude, I know what you mean. Flash is so abused I can't take it anymore. So, here is my solution:
1. Download and install Mozilla. I have been using the 1.3 Beta version for some time, and love it. Use Mozilla exclusively.
2. When you go to a Flash-enabled site, DO NOT CLICK ON THE "DOWNLOAD FLASH NOW" ICON!
3. Shoot anyone who breaks rule #2 on your computer.
4. Use M$ Internet Exploder for the 1% of your web surfing time that requires you to have flash.

I just feel kinda dirty when I have to launch IE anymore.

Thanks!, I just install Mozilla 1.21 and it is FAST. Its faster than IE6 sp1, I have both IE and Mozilla set up with the same Cache folder(which btw is located on a ramdrive) and IE slower, cool. I did try Opera just last week and I didn't find it any faster than IE so I went back but Mozilla is nice..

Have fun with the tabbed browsing (did you know your "home page" can actually be more than one? My "homepage" is/are slashdot, windrivers, anandtech, and yahoo mail.

Also, the popup blocker works great, as does the image blocker, using those and not having flash enabled i rarely see any ads anymore.

just FYI-- if you are used to having a "back" button on your mouse, check out mozilla 1.3. that was the only thing i missed from IE.

there is no going back for me!

now that i earned your trust, try ripping a cd using the ogg vorbis coded... check it out at http://xiph.org. It sounds FAR better at 128 kbps than mp3 does at 192kbps. winamp plays .ogg files natively. If you just wanna check out an .ogg file, search kazaa for 03-Far Gone and Out.ogg and give it a listen.

From a different angle, I am wondering if there is anyone who doesn't disable flash on their own computers?
It's the first thing I root out on any browser installation!

I have to run flash because my wife enjoys pogo.com and those types of gaming sites. I also couldn't live without liquidgeneration.com. It's just too funny.😛
I think I'll try the Mozilla, but I won't stick with it if it doesn't have a google toolbar. I've tried a few other browsers but was never happy with the customizing options (I like a clean browser with few useless buttons).

no need for google bar if you only use it for searching. just use the url/address bar for searching google.. type what you want and press the down arrow and hit enter. you may have to set google as your default search engine (easy to accomplish)... or use the sidebar (hit f9) and use the google search there. Mozilla has it all, now including the kitchen sink!

Flash works fine with Mozilla but i prefer to keep it off to have 100% ad blockage (i leave anandtech's on so they can generate revenue). I keep IE installed for the few times I need flash, but use Mozilla for everything else. I turned a bunch of coworkers on to Mozilla, too, and they love it.

Well, I gave Mozilla a try and I hate it. The Google toolbar makes IE like 10 times better. I just can't go without it. It will highlight words for you, translate pages to english on the fly and more.
I find Mozilla very bloated, it just isn't as clean as IE. I want simple... webpages clutter up my brain enough.🙂

I'm sure some people will genuinely like Mozilla, but I'm willing to bet that alot of people will like it just because it isn't Microsoft. It seems to be cool nowadays to hate Microsoft.
