Disabling "it is now safe to turn off..." screen

I have some OEM (Compaq ) machines that I recently loaded WinXP Pro on. I notice that after I have shut them down, they do not just turn off, but instead display the "it is now safe to turn off" screen. I also have a custom built machine and a Dell do this. I would like to disable this and have it shut down the computer like it should be doing.

Is this a setting in the bios that needs to be changed, or a power management setting?

try this out and see if it helps.

Go to Start :::> Settings :::> Control Panel :::> System :::>Hardware Tab :::> Device Manager

under the device manager select the VIEW menu then select "SHOW HIDDEN DEVICES"
Often NT/2k compatible APM will show up with a yellow exclamation point next to it. Right mouse click and choose "ENABLE".

If you have this in your Device manager it might cure the prob...works on the 400 Dells I have built at work! :)
