Running WinXP Pro.
Is it possible to completely disable / delete IE, without compromising the system?

The reason I wish to do this: I'm getting just too many popup messages, adds, and such like while using other internet programs

TIA

Thanks,
I think I already siabled Messenger Services in my XP, just like it says in the link.
However, some messages I get - or maybe they are popup adds - are opened in an IE window

How do I get rid of those? I mean not just close those windows which I do, but disable them from opening in the first place?

I just started using google's new pop-up blocker that they have integrated into the google toolbar. It works really well.

You could set it up to use a proxy which does not exist, then it won't be able to connect.
