disabling internal speaker?

I need to disable an internal speaker in a new Dell that I got at work so that the only sound I get is through the external speakers? I forgot how to do it. Any help, folks? Thanks. BTW, Win 98
 
just unplug it.. you'll find out then if you have an on-board speaker... if you still hear sound, time to look in the BIOS.
