disabling Intel "Extreme" Graphics on 865G

Hiya,

I'm thinking of buying a 865G based system (specifically a Shuttle XPC). However I want to be sure that I can completely disable the integrated graphics hardware, since there's a significant performance hit associated with using it. The plan is to use the integrated video for a while while I save for something better (read Half Life 2 ready). Since the Shuttle 865G board has an AGP 8X slot, there'll be a BIOS option to turn off the integrated graphics, right? That would make sense, but I don't want to *assume*, and I'm not in a position to do a hands on test before I buy...

thx in advance,

grib.

If there isn't a jumper or BIOS setting, then it most likely will disable automatically when you put an AGP card in there.

just push the F2 function button upon bootup, and completley disable the silly onboard video there.

Yep, and make sure AGP is selected as the video in the bios not pci. Should be by default.

Welcome to the forums... And yes, it is easily disabled.

Personally, I like onboard graphics. It's an excellent backup in case you find yourself temporarily w/out a good video card.
