Disabling decoder in Audigy 2ZS Plat.

Hi Guys.

I have just purchased a set of Logitech z5500 digital speakers. I have SB Audigy 2 ZS Plat with the connector box( in drive bay).

The issue i am having is as follows. I am trying to get DTS and Dolby Digital via a Toslink optical cable from the PC to speaker controller. I can only get Pro Logic movie and music, stereo and stereo 2. I have also tried this with a digital coaxial as well, with the same results.
I am using the connectors on the fron panel, not sound card. I was advised that this makes no difference.

I rang and spoke to Logitech support who have advised me, that due to hardware decoder in sound card the data via the cable was only in 2 channel. I was advised the best option for a PC is to use 6 channel direct sound. I advised him that i don't want analogue, and he said that i would have to disable sound card decoder??? This would allow the speakers to decode the sound and allow DTS etc.

How do i do this, and is he correct in his information??

Your help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Its in audioHQ which can be found by going to the start menu->Creative->Sound blaster audigy ZS-> Creative AudioHQ

One of the tabs their you will be able to set to passthrough which bypasses the installed decoder

Hi,

I have selected SPDIF passthrough via audio hq, and still no difference. Can you offer any other suggestions.

What material are you playing?

SPDIF Passthough is the correct setting. Try using the coaxial on the Digital Out 1/8th plug, on the card. I use it with a mono 1/8-to-RCA adapter.

You're using something that's DD or DTS encoded, right? (Like a DVD movie?)

EDIT: check the settings in your player too.

I know VLC media player can pass a DD or DTS track and it's a free program.
