I like using Avira Antivir but the thing I hate about it is when it auto updates there's a retarded ad pop up for new Avira products. Anyone know how to disable the ad?

As a user of avira antivirus free, I see no reason to delete the minor annoyance pop up ad. The fact is that avira servers are somewhat overused and not all that reliable. But when I see that pop up on the taskbar or desktop, its somewhat my assurance that the latest virus database update has gone through successfully. Then its a matter of deleting the pop up. One or two mouse clicks.

How hard is that?

AntiVirus programs should be neither heard or seen unless they find a baddie or run into a real problem (like they can't update signatures)

As long as you pay for that antivirus. When using free versions, you really have no right to complain about an occasional pop up trying to sell you the product.

If all I need to do to assure Avira's fine product remains free for personal use is look at a 2-second pop-up ad once a day then I'm happy to do so.
