Disabled Tacoma man shoots burglar...

dead man cant talk
shoot to kill, a fine example of what u should do when someone breaks into your house.

good thing for the paraplegic that the guy died... if you shoot, shoot to kill, or suffer the wrath of our litigious society = lawsuit from the "victim"

The homeowner was not injured in the incident. It is still unknown whether charges will be filed against him, but Fulgham said initial investigation finds that he acted in self-defense.

Why would they even suggest that option?

Why should he?
And by your logic, it wouldn't have been as bad if the burglar hadn't decided to break-in to the parapalegic's home in the first place.

edit: also, there is nothing in that article that says that the man didn't call the police right away (in fact, the opposite is implied, that he called the police promptly), it just says that police couldn't find the suspect, who fled the scene, until many hours later. Kindly stfu.
