Question Disable video autoplay

Is the only way to truly disable video autoplay to turn off Javascript for that site? Or are there other ways?

Pretty hilarious that some browsers have the option to mute the sound on an autoplay video but no option to stop the autoplay...

site with autoplay video? cnn.com, usatoday.com and abcnews.go.com are some of them...when you click on any of the stories, a video autoplays when the story opens in a new page...
Sorry, "that site" wasn't clear on what you were talking about.

Different sites use different things to auto play video.

You can usually disable from within the browser, other times you can block it from within an adblocker by creating custom rules. Some sites like ESPN let you disable autoplay on the video settings. If I can't stop it from auto-playing using one of those three methods, I simply quit using the site altogether.

In Firefox you can manually blacklist a site to block audio, video or both. (Settings - Options - Privacy and Security - Scroll down to Permissions - Autoplay.

You can also right click the little autoplay thingy just to the left of the address bar and choose the same options.
