Anyone know how to permanently disable updates (especially any sort of auto-updates) in SeaMonkey? I just got SeaMonkey 2.48 last week, and already getting pleas to upgrade to some newer version every time I open the browser. If its anything like Firefox, an auto-update will soon be coming, and I want to stop it by any means necessary.

Manually upgrade to 2.49.1

SeaMonkey 2.49.1 released

The SeaMonkey project is proud to present SeaMonkey 2.49.1: The new major release of the all-in-one Internet suite is available for download now! Building on the same Mozilla platform as Firefox 52.4 ESR, it delivers those same developments in web technologies such as HTML5, hardware acceleration and improved JavaScript speed.

SeaMonkey 2.49.1 is available in 20 languages, for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

Automatic upgrades from previous versions are, for most configurations, disabled for this release. If you need to upgrade from an earlier version, please download the full installer from the downloads section and install SeaMonkey 2.49.1 manually over the previous version.

For a more complete list of major changes in SeaMonkey 2.49.1, see the What's New in SeaMonkey 2.49.1 section of the Release Notes, which also contain a list of known issues and answers to frequently asked questions. For a more general overview of the SeaMonkey project (and screen shots!), visit www.seamonkey-project.org.

I don't have Seamonkey installed any more, but I found this when searching:

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1692825

Unfortunately, Sea Monkey 2.48 is different to the version discussed in that link. I can click on 'Edit', then 'Preferences', then 'Advanced' at which point there is no 'Software Installation'...only options listed are:
System Integration
Crash Reports
Developer Tools
Port number for connection

Manually upgrade to 2.49.1

The Mozilla mothership has a long history of saying they will not force updates, addons, etc., on the enduser, then doing exactly that a few months or few years later...which is one reason I got rid of Firefox. I would be a lot more at ease if I knew their ability to surreptitiously update me to 2.49 was totally and permanently erased.

I can't download release 2.48 as it's not available on the FTP site, but the option described in the link I mentioned is available in 2.49.1.

Actually yesterday I uninstalled SeaMonkey 2.48, then re-installed it, as it was acting weird, but that fixed its wagon! Don't recall whether I got it here:
https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/2.48
or here:
http://www.filepuma.com/download/seamonkey_2.48-16190/
or someplace else. Guess I should keep a record of who, what, when and where.
