disable onboard video

Anybody happen to know how I can disable the onboard video on a HP vectra600 series8? I've looked around at the HP site, if it's there I can't find it....it's not in the big 10 page tech manual for that computer.I'd like to pop in a decent pci card.

BTW Any recomendations on a card? This box has a PII 400 and 128 mb ram.

Thanks!!

On some mobos the onboard video can't be disabled, but you can set it to secondary and make the PCI card primary. There should be either a BIOS setting or a jumper.

For your computer I would recommend a Voodoo3 3000.

Onboard video is normally disabled with either a mobo jumper, in the bios, or just can be removed in tthe Windows device manager. You can always install a new card and see if the PC boots up, then remove the old onboard video chip adapter thru Device Manager.
