Disable my freakin laptop touchpad!

When I type... my thumbs are hovering right above the touchpad. Every once in a while, they hit it and the cursor jumps accross the screen and screw everything up.

I am sure you have encountered it before.

I cannot disable the default PS/2 (touchpad) mouse in the device manager, but I can disable my USB mouse.

I could disable it in the BIOS (probably), but I use it every once in a while.

Is there a little program that will allow me to disable the mouse when I want, then re-enable it later on?

Thanks!

Which laptop do you have? My old HP Pavilion had a dedicated button right above the touchpad to disable it. My new Toshiba Satellite has a Function key combination to disable its touchpad.

Some touchpad utilities have a sort of "time bomb" which will disable the touchpad when the keyboard is being used...

There's an option to disable the touchpad in my mouse driver control panel on my Inspiron 8200.

Compaq 710US. I don't have any of the original software installed. Maybe if I download the drivers..... it will have a disable function or somethin.

I have the same problem... but i don't like installing those wierd touchpad drivers... there ought to be a program somewhere that will have the computer ignore the touchpad when you tell it to? hmm.
