Hi, does anybody know how to disable(make it gone) the sidewinder icon on the system tray in Win 2000? Do I need to play with the registry or something? Thanks.

It proably is in your START UP folder
On the empty part of your task bar,
right click,
select properties,
select Start menu programs,
in the left window-
click on the (+) nexst to each
folder until you find the
(Start up)folder,click once on it.
in the right window it should show
everything thats loading when windows
starts.
if this is where the SW joy is loading from
click once on it and then hit the edlete key,
ARE YOU SHORE? YES.

This is not the start up folder. I know how to disable the icon in Win 98 but it's different in Win 2000. There is no sidewinder in start up folder. Thanks for it though. Any other suggestion???

You are probebly going to have to remove it from the registry.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run ... RunOnce and RunOnceEx
See if you can find an entry related to sidewinder and delete it. I recommend backing up your registy first though.

I have also heard you can take msconfig from win98 and use it to stop the startup registry entries.
