disable acpi = lower cpu temps ... huh?

first of all, i have everything seated correctly and have used mobo monitor 5.09, bios readings, and a thermal probe. all three temperature determinants only differ by a degree or so. anyways, i just finished formatting with acpi disabled and my temperature has dropped considerably. im not complaining, but is this normal? ive encountered this once in the past when i wanted to venture the non-acpi realm. im using the same os, same bios, same probe before and after. i did not reseat the heatsink or move the probe. do the pci cards radiate extra heat when using the same irq? i dont get it but i hope someone can explain it to me, because i thought acpi was supposed to lower temperature during idle. ambient temperature was the same before and after. the decrease in temp is approximately 8-10 degrees (semi-idle temps).

Normally switching to a non-ACPI HAL in Win2K increases temperatures.

You should be happy I guess.
