Downloading it. Will post bench scores in a bit.

Edit:

1680x1050, all details maximum, no AA: 63.7fps average, 45.6fps minimum
1680x1050, all details maximum, 4x AA: 50.5fps average, 37.0fps minimum

Something to take note, the benchmark isn't a recorded run of the game. It's just a generic race with AI controlled cars. The benchmark can be different every time you run it. One time I ran it the car the camera was behind stayed in last place the entire time. Another time I ran it, the car got stuck somewhere and couldn't move for half the race. Another time after that I ran the benchmark and the car managed to get 5th place in the race.

I ran the benchmark at my native resolution of 1280x1024 with everything maxed except post effect which couldn't go higher than medium because the demo ran on DX9 only, I couldn't find a way to enable the DX10, seems that the demo is DX9 or DX11 only, but the full game will have DX10 support.

Everything on Ultra, 8xFSAA

Min: 50
Ave: 57

Min 55
avg 66
4xaa everything high (default)

i7 2.66 and MSI OC3 260

Bit surprised at DX11 and Radeon. With the prices of video cards actually going up, looks like i'll have to wait for Fermi.

Just overclocked my gtx 260 to 676,1403,1135 from stock and got....

ultra settings

overclocked gtx 260
1280x1024 63.4, 47.9
1600x1200 62.1 47.9

stock gtx260
1280x1024 64.4 ,50.9
1600x1200 60.8 , 43.4

This benchmark dosen't seem right or I'm cpu limited.

Here's a review of the demo I suppose on 5870 and dx11. Seems like there's no real difference in image quality between dx9 and dx11 except for bad frame rates.

Is that one of those superclocked gtx 260's? Whats your temps like? I used riva tuner and my core temps never went above 54c during the benchmark overclocked. Wonder if I can get mine that high.:hmm:

Edit: looks like direct x 11 with the Dirt 2 game is usless. Just gives you lower framerates according to that review.

955 BE @3600MHz (16x225)
HD 5870 @Stock (850/1200)

DX11 | 2560x1600 | 4AA/16AF
In game settings @max everything (including post-processing)

Avg. 43.2 FPS
Min. 36.7 FPS

Edit #1: The demo tried to install some "3D something" which Kaspersky cautioned to be potentially dangerous, so I blocked that thing. It gave me an error message but the installation finished regardless and the demo seems to run fine. Does anyone know what it is?

Edit #2: Just learned AMD had released a hot-fix driver set that improved performance in this game. I'll wait for the official 9.12 release. The game looks gorgeous, BTW.

Edit #3: How do I force DX9 mode?

My card is factory overclocked but I don't think it makes a difference far as overclocking goes. I changed the voltage within bios to 1.18volts from 1.12 if that matters.

I hit nearly 80C at load and about 55C at idle in most games. 54C at load seems great but that doesn't seem right.

Add to this 'unique' list the fact that maximum details are also different: they are determined by your card's features and speed.

I just run it on the same system (i7-860 w/o HT, 8GB, 2x HP 23" L2335 and W7x64U) with a 4850 512MB (CAT9.11) and a 5870 1GB (new CAT hotfix) and I got very similar frame rates - but the highest available settings were waaay more limited with 4850.

For benchmarking it's a crap, period.

A very nice DX11 techdemo though. :)

For comparing cards, it isn't a good benchmark. For determining how well the game will play with a particular set of settings, it is a fantastic benchmark.

Canned demo loops just don't give you an accurate picture of what the game will play like.

As for Dx 9 vs Dx 11, I found the lighting to be improved in dx 11.. everything just looks a little more three dimensional and it feels more like the sunlight is filling the environment.

Dx 9 (forced) -

5760x1080
2xmsaa
minimum fps: 37.6
average fps: 51.7

Dx 11 (default) -
5760x1080
2xmsaa
minimum fps: 24
average fps: 35

Dx 11 (default)
5760x1080
0xmsaa
minimum fps: 33
average fps: 39

So between 33-37% performance drop with Dx 11 at my resolution.

It does look prettier, and that is the point of having a high-end gpu for me.. so I'll run it in the best available mode.

The game feels great in either mode.. there hasn't been a time where it felt slow, so I'll take the higher eyecandy level.

Personally, I'll give up 2x msaa and take 33-40 fps running in dx 11 mode in triplehead :)

I'd snap a few screens but they really don't do the dx 11 effects justice.. most of them have to be seen in motion to appreciate, that and Fraps doesn't seem to work on dx 11 games.

Ultra settings @ 1680*1050 with 4xMSAA. Might have to retest though, coz it looks like I was forcing 4xAA with edge detect in ATI CCC, although not sure if it actually got forced.

min_fps="30.461422"

av_fps="42.740681"

HD 5870 stock
3,4GHz q6700
4gb ddr2 @ 800MHz

The low min fps is because of 1 drop I noticed, probably a hiccup of the OS/HDD, more then the videocard. But without it, min fps would have been 34ish or so.

Mine sits at 40c idle @ 40% fan speed?

My case is like a wind tunnel :D whats your like?

Visually the game doesn't really impress me that much. After seeing Forza 3 and Gran Turismo 5, the bar is too high for the game to impress me.

E8400 @3600MHz (9x400)
GTX 280 @650/1200 (same as stock GTX 285)

DX9 | 2560x1600 | 4AA/16AF
In game settings @max everything (except post-processing = medium, is this the difference between DX9 and DX11?)

Avg. 42.6 FPS
Min. 36.9 FPS

GTX 280's DX9 numbers are about the same with HD 5870's DX11 numbers in my testings.
