DirectX in XP??

which version of XP has that 8.1 beta installed? my XP version is 2600. does that include the 8.1 beta of DX? thanks
 
Yep! They did just that. If you want to see for yourself, search for a program called "dxdiag", and at the bottom of the program, after you run it, it says Direct X8.1 and has a long version number. I found the file in my WINNT/system32/ folder.
 
Yes, they did it. But MS will tell you that this is not a beta, that the version (4.08.01.0810) was ready since RC1 (when it first appeared).
