yeah, what gives. Nothing on the Microsoft's DirectX website about it. Lets hope this actually fixes a lot of stuff (not that I'm having a lot of problems, I just like to feel better ;))

Not the point. Every release of DirectX is backwards compatible and usually includes various tweaks and such to run code better and faster. Ergo... it effects all your DirectX games, not just the ones coded for Dx9.

A worthy addition to the thread. I wonder, if posting "repost" didn't count toward overall post count, some people here might qualify as junior members again. :p

But anyway, is there a list anywhere that details the tweaks/fixes in this? Or does Microsoft not believe in that?

Got it - installed it - and it looks good. No problems noted - everything runs as good as ever, but there is no apparent change. Performance testing shows no difference. The good advice from Microsoft was - before installing, create a Restore point in XP. It can't be readily uninstalled, but that way you can revert to yesterday's registry and usually offset a problem it might have with another app.
