DirectX 8.1 for XP

I know that 8.1 is automatically installed on a fresh install of XP, but back in the "old days" of Windows 98SE, there were several times where I needed to reinstall DirectX 8.1 or certain games would not work correctly. Was this reinstall really not necessary? Microsoft seems to think so being that they don't even offer a DirectX 8.1 XP download.

So will I not have to worry about this in Windows XP like I did in Win98SE? OR where can I find the installation files for DirectX 8.1 on the CD? Thanks.
