Hey, I just put together a new machine with Win2K & a MSI Geforce 4 4400, and installed DirectX 8.1. I installed the MSI drivers, then the new SpiderMan Movie game. Didn't work - the screen cut to black, then immediately back to my desktop. I (eventually) ran dxdiag, specifically, the Direct3D test, and I got the following:
Direct3D test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x887602eb (error code)
The screen flickered to black for a moment, then back to the test.
I tried installing the newest NVidia reference drivers, to no avail.
