DirectX 8.0

I doubt it's the final version -- you would have seen it hyped up EVERYWHERE!

ie: 'ATTN: DirectX 8.0 has been released! Get it HERE!'

Or something to that effect = )

haha true, Directx8 is supposed to support many advanced features if i am not mistaken...such as environmental bump mapping.

i doubt it'll blow your computer up, probably just incapacitate it 🙂 Anyways, to all those people out there who have installed dx8, is it really worth it? What improvements/problems are there? Thanks in advance 🙂

I have used every BETA release of DX8. I don't know if it makes a difference over DX7. Until hardware and software supporting DX8 is used, they are not necessary. The latest release is pretty good, though.

<< I don't have a Radeon, if I use DX8 will my computer blow up or something? >>

LMAO Sickhead 😀

I'm going to wait for the final release, and stick with DX7 until then.

I used the release prior to 219 till it expired but didn't really see any difference. Note that I didn't do any benchmark testing or anything. I agree with MacGuyver1 though, although the Radeon supports many of the new DX8 features, until games are written to take advantage of these features it really is unneccessary.

I've been using various beta versions of Directx8 for a few months now. Haven't noticed any improvements, but haven't had any problems with it either.
