DirectX 10/10.1 Compatibility??

Can a graphics card that is compatible with DirectX 10/10.1 (e.g. Radeon HD 3450) operate with Windows XP?

What would be the result of attempting this: a) the card will only handle DirectX 9.0 information and run at a reduced rate, or b) the card won?t be detected at all by the OS?

I?m asking this on a friend?s behalf and to be specific, he?s trying to run?

this graphics card:

on this motherboard:

using Windows XP Professional.

You will just be using DX9.

This.

Oh and I believe that your friend does know that card sucks at gaming, so DX10 or DX9, it doesn't really matter.

You have to upgrade Vista to use dx10 dx10.1 functionality. Dx10 makes little difference if any. and that card is too slow to run dx10 anyway.
